Privacy Act 1988 (Cth): This
Act establishes the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), which regulate the handling
of personal information by Australian government agencies and some private sector
organizations. Health information is considered sensitive information under the
Privacy Act, and stricter requirements apply to its handling.
Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW):This legislation applies
specifically to New South Wales and governs the collection, use, and disclosure of
health information by public sector agencies and private sector organizations in NSW.
Health Records Act 2001 (Vic):
This Act applies to Victoria and regulates the handling
of health information by public and private sector health service providers in
Victoria.
My Health Records Act 2012 (Cth): This Act establishes the framework for the My
Health Record system in Australia, which allows individuals to access and manage
their own digital health records. It includes provisions related to the privacy and
